Niet London, maar Grimsby

Aiai. Vrijdag was ik blijgemaakt met een project van 5 weken in London. Gisteren bleek het ma-do in Grimsby en vr in London te zijn. "Grimsby?", hoor ik u denken. Inderdaad. Grimsby. Voor de onwetenden onder ons:

*Mini guide to Grimsby*

Grimsby is a port town with a rich fishing heritage, situated close by the beaches of the seaside resort town of Cleethorpes in Northeast Lincolnshire.

Together with their hinterland, Grimsby and Cleethorpes include some of the best ecclesiastical architecture to be found in England. St. James’ Church, built in the late 12th/early 13th century, is a good example and has some beautiful stained glass.

A popular activity in the area is a voyage around the Humber Estuary, the waters just off the coast of Grimsby. Set sail out of Grimsby Fish Docks on a full working trawler. Look out for marine life such as porpoises, cormorants and seals.

Whether its restaurants, bars, pubs or clubs you're after, there is no shortage of places to eat, drink and just relax in Grimsby. For slightly more sophisticated entertainment, the Caxton Theatre puts on excellent productions, catering to all tastes, throughout the year.

A short drive to the south of Grimsby takes you to the pleasant market town of Louth, located amidst the gentle green hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds. The town’s cramped lanes and alleys – focusing on the Cornmarket – are lined with red brick buildings dating from the seventeenth century.

The region is serviced by Humberside International Airport.

Het hotel werd aldoor de Engelse projectleider beschreven als apparently the best Grimsby has to offer. Erg veelbelovend dus.
